The list of authors who have removed fics from the public and are a no-go for sharing includes, but is not limited to:
- Seraphyna [confirmed by PM at ff.net Oct. 26th '11; writer of Bills, Bills, Bills]
- audaciously @ fartoomanynotes [source]
- triddlegrl's fic Pretty Woman which is in the process of being revamped and reposted [confirmed by PM at lj Dec. 30th '11]
- paperclipbitch [source]
- a_rainy_monday's "Forever After" and both parts of "Firesong" ("Beltane" and "Lughnasadh") [source]
- rayslady [source]
I'll try to keep the list updated, and could use your help, as well as any authors' who want to have a say in what happens with the fanworks they freely and for free once shared with fans. Whether it's to say that sharing is a-okay (read: by email only! reposting, even to filesharing sites, is a big no-no) or that they'd prefer no sharing happen, the comments here are screened and there's no questions asked (well, a reasonable means of ID confirmation would be nice, but that's all).
If an author cannot be contacted or they've been contacted but have not responded in a reasonable amount of time (say, a month) we'll allow the sharing of their stories — but as soon as we hear otherwise the sharing will be stopped.
tl;dr If your fave fanwork is not where it used to be try web searching it first, contacting the author second, check this post and previous deleted/removed searches here next, and if none of those can give you answers only then post a search of your own. The mods here will contact authors for you but your post will be deleted until we hear back from them, or you remind us that we haven't heard back from them and it's been over a month, so be proactive! And don't be a jerk. Because jerks make Brittany cry, and no one wants to see her cry. :-)
Comments screened, so speak at will.
